The Map->Configure submenu

Map Configure Submenu

The Map->Configure submenu allows manipulation of parameters that affect map rendering.

  • Background Color: The default color is a pale grey. You can change this here.

  • Map Intensity: Dims the map against the background.

  • Adjust Gamma Correction: tweaks the way colors render on your screen.

  • Station Text Style: choose whether the text associated with APRS stations is rendered in black bordered text (default), black shadow, text on black, or drop shadow.

  • Configure USGS DRG: GeoTIFF topo maps from the United States Geological Survey are always produced with a standard 13-color palette. This dialog lets you direct Xastir not to draw some of those colors, which allows you to turn off some map features and make the map appear as if it is more like a vector map with transparent parts to allow other map layers to show through. It only works for maps that are truly United States Geological Survey GeoTIFF topos that adhere to this specific color palette.

  • Geocoding settings: this allows you to set up the Nominatim "Search Location" feature with your personal defaults. You can set your default country, the Nominatim server URL, and optionally provide an email address (Nominatim requests, but does not require, that you do so).

  • Re-download Maps (Not from cache): Forces Xastir to ignore its cache of downloaded files and download them again.

  • Flush Entire Map Cache: Delete all cached map tiles and images from online sources.

  • Index New Maps on Startup: Uh, makes Xastir index new maps it finds upon startup

  • Index: Add New Maps: Causes Xastir to scan the maps directory for any maps that have been added since the last time an index was generated.

  • Index: Reindex all maps: Causes Xastir to scan all maps in the maps directory and regenerate its index from scratch.
