Signpost objects
Signpost objects have the symbol "\m" with no overlay permitted. They may have an associated "value" of up to three digits.
Xastir displays the value next to the symbol. Some APRS clients will superimpose the value on the signpost. Some clients do not even process the value, leaving it as part of the comment.
The original intent of the signpost object in the APRS spec was for posting the speed of traffic near traffic speed measuring devices, but they can be used for any purpose.
Creating signpost objects
In the object/item create dialog, select the "Signpost" toggle button. The dialog box will change so that only the parameters that apply may be entered.
Enter up to three digits in the "Signpost text" box if desired.
