The File->Configure->Timing dialog
This dialog box allows you to set the frequency at which Xastir performs certain actions.
-
Posit TX Interval: How often your station's position report will be transmitted
-
Object/Item Max TX Interval: objects and items are transmitted on a decaying interval schedule. The first packet is transmitted immediately after the object is created or modified, then retransmitted twenty seconds later. The time between subsequent transmissions is doubled for every transmission until this maximum interval is reached. All transmissions after that are at the maximum interval.
-
GPS Check Interval: How often to poll an attached GPS for the current position.
-
Dead-Reckoning timeout: All stations plotted on the map that have courses and speeds associated with them are dead-reckoned -- their predicted positions based on their last position and velocity are plotted as ghost-like icons connected to the last position with a dashed line until a new position report is received. When this dead-reckoning timeout is reached without hearing from the station again we stop doing that calculation and display.
-
New Track Time: If a station's next position comes this long after its previous, don't draw a line connecting the positions, start a new track line.
-
RINO->Objects Interval: a special feature designed to work with Garmin RINO units.
-
Snapshot interval: if PNG or KML snapshots are enabled, how often to produce one.
-
Station Ghosting Time: After a station hasn't been heard from for this long, change its icon to a stippled icon instead of solid.
-
Station Clear Time: After a station hasn't been heard from for this long, remove it from the map.
-
Station Delete Time: After a station hasn't been heard from for this long, delete it from our internal database.
-
Serial Inter-Char Delay: For serially-connected TNC devices, how much delay should we put between every character we output? This is intended for use with fussy old devices that can't handle output without some sort of delay, and should not be needed for any modern devices.
-
New Track Interval: If a station moves this far (in degrees of latitude or longitude) from its last position, start a new track for it instead of connecting the positions with a line.
-
Internet Map Timeout: How long to allow download of an online map to take before concluding it's failing.
-
Aircraft Ghost/Clear Time: Ghost icons for objects that are from externally connected ADS or AIS receivers after this long.
