Internet Server interfaces
This interface type lets you connect to one of the APRS-IS internet servers.
- Activate on Startup?: Should Xastir start this up automatically when you start Xastir?
- Allow transmitting: Should we send data to this server or just listen to what it sends us?
- Host: The host name of the server you want to connect to. "rotate.aprs2.net" is a good one. Browse http://www.aprs2.net/ if you want to find the ideal one that's closest to you.
- Port: The port on the server to connect to. While there are other ports to connect to, the modern recommendation is always to use filtered port, 14580
- Pass-code: the five-digit pass code that "callpass" prints out when you use your own call sign on its command line. This must be set if you plan to transmit to the server.
- Filter parameters: set this to limit what information you get from the server. Consult https://www.aprs-is.net/javAPRSFilter.aspx for documentation of the filter feature.
- Comment: A note to yourself that will show up in the Interface Control list.
- Reconnect on NET failure: If your network connection to the server drops, should we try to reconnect?
