Map Pointer Menu

Right clicking on the map window or selecting "Map Pointer Menu" from the Map menu brings up a small context menu.

  • Center: recenters the map on the location you had clicked

  • Station Info: Brings up a dialog box with information about any station close to your mouse pointer. If multiple stations near that point, brings up a dialog listing all of them and allows you to choose one to query.

  • Send Message To: Brings up a Send Message Box pre-filled with the call sign of the station near your mouse click. As with Station Info, if there are multiple stations near your mouse cursor, first brings up a selection dialog listing those stations.

  • Zoom Level: Allows you to zoom in and out

  • Object/Item->Create: Opens an object creation dialog box that allows you to place an APRS object on the map. It will be filled in with the location where you clicked, but you can enter any other coordinates as needed.

  • Object/Item->Modify: brings up a dialog box with information about an object or item near your mouse click. You can change the object's data in this dialog box.

  • Predefined Objects: Allows you to drop an object at the mouse position. Uses information in the file of predefined objects you can set up through the File->Configure->Defaults dialog. If you have not configured one, Xastir will use its default set of predefined objects designed for Search and Rescue management, as found in predefined_SAR.sys in the system-wide Xastir config directory.

  • Pan: gives options to pan the map up, down, left, or right.

  • Move My Station Here: Allows you to change your own station position without having to open the File->Configure->Station dialog.
